Brighton Big Dog 2014

Last weeks rainstorms could only mean one thing a slippery, treacherous course at this years Big Dog at Stanmer Park.
Stanmer was a little bit damp a few weeks earlier when a group of club riders ventured over there for a bit of sneaky practice on one of the driest weeks of the year!
So a little apprehensive we arrived early set up camp alongside the course and watched all the riders doing practice laps coming back rather muddy. Oh well been here before!
This years course didn't venture over the M27 into Coldean Woods or have the brutal Clif Bar climb at the start this made the course a little short that seemed well received but maybe suited roadie legs over technical abilities to maximise the best lap times.

BBD Course 2014

The club and team had an entry in most categories and the 6hrs of fun kicked off at 12am with team riders Hugo, Marc and Steve on the front of the grid with Emma and the rest of the soloist back in the throng.

The first lap was the usual procession but by the 3hr mark the track was drying out and the riders had thinned out, with 850 feet of climbing each lap it was a true test of stamina.  Emma rode 9 laps to win the Ladies Solo, Fay and Steve won the mixed pairs by an impressive 12 mins, Simon Marc and Roger won the Male Team a great day for the team. Club riders also fared well with Hugo and Harry Underhill coming 4th Male Team,  Julia Hammond pairing up with friend to come 10th in mixed pairs,  Pete W 31st solo male, John R 20th, John D 24th and Andy G 34th.
