GS Stella - 2 Day Time Trial.

Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th February 2010. 
Storrington, West Sussex.

A Stella weekend for Southdowns Bikes.
The first weekend in February? Cold weather?  It must be the GS Stella TT weekend.
Last weekend saw the 2010 running of the GS Stella 2 day Time Trial, run once again by Mark Jones from the GS Stella Cycling club.












A slightly disappointing entry list was soon  forgotten, as Wouter Sybrandy from the Sigma Sport cycling team blitzed the course on Saturday, covering the 18km o route from Storrington to the Whiteway’s roundabout and back, in a new course record 24 min 33 sec. he was followed home by last years winner Pete Tadros 1min 08 secs behind. 


                                                                                   
Southdowns Bikes were represented by all three of their new signings as well as last years riders, Marc Clothier and Emma Craddock. All four men finished in the top 12 with Emma finishing 1st lady in 33:45.

 

Sunday dawned grey and cold with the temperature struggling to reach 3° winter kit was the order of the day.

Once again Wouter put on a stunning display over the longer 34km distance, setting his second course record of the weekend with a time of 47:20 and thereby taking the overall trophy from Pete Tadros.

The Southdowns team of, Simon McNamara, Roger Smith, Marc Clothier , James Makepeace, finished 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th respectively on Sunday and secured the overall team prize.
Emma again rode strongly on Sunday, finishing 1st lady and taking the overall ladies prize for the weekend.

 

All in all a splendid debut for the road team after the exploits of the MTB squad last weekend and we look forward to the start of the road season proper in early March 2010.
